jasonstiller 05-01-09, 03:04 PM Sweet! I loved turtles in time.
e_e_emarpea 05-01-09, 03:19 PM ditto. ill be on the lookout for this one. good looking out!
ibuycheap 05-01-09, 03:19 PM I can't wait but the problem is unless there is a movie tie in we won't see this for a while I bet.
Stryker412 05-01-09, 03:22 PM No movie needed, this is their 25th anniversary.

Also there is a new live action movie coming but it won't be out for some time.
jagouar 05-01-09, 03:22 PM awesome.... was wondering when they were finally going to bring this to xbla.
LR6AGB001 05-01-09, 03:23 PM I do wonder if this is based off the arcade build, SNES...or even better both.

From the link:
Actually, Tokka and Rahzar were the bosses on Skull & Crossbones in the ORIGINAL (Arcade) version. They were moved to the (added) Technodrome level for the home version, and replaced with Bebop & Rocksteady. This means the remake is probably based on the Arcade version, meaning no Technodrome level, no Rat King, etc.
LR6AGB001 05-01-09, 03:41 PM No Slash then eh? While the arcade version was a bit short, online multiplayer should be a blast either way.
Guess I'll hold onto my SNES copy after all.
Degenerazn 05-01-09, 05:34 PM Isn't this the version that's already out for XBL?? Or is this diff?

This is another remake not an HD remake
eatenbacktolife 05-01-09, 06:04 PM The XBLA turtles game is the first arcade game, this is the sequel.
bigj552000 05-02-09, 01:22 AM Now they just need to remake "THE SIMPSONS" arcade game!:D
That is the best Simpsons game so far
Stryker412 07-31-09, 08:04 AM Coming next week! It has now been priced at 800pts.

Stryker412 08-05-09, 02:33 PM Anyone else pick this up today?
eatenbacktolife 08-05-09, 02:52 PM I did...the music is pure dreck. I actually quit playing solo since I couldn't take it anymore. Playing with friends should make it more manageable. My tin foil hat theory is they pulled it so they could offer the good music as DLC.

The music isn't the same?

eatenbacktolife 08-05-09, 03:02 PM I wish, it's horrible. It only gets worse as the game progresses.
i bought it. played 1/2 hour. turned on my zune for background music about 5 minutes into it. game itself is great. music is a MEH!
nnarum23 08-05-09, 04:18 PM Music is horrible! What were they thinking!?
confidenceman 08-05-09, 04:45 PM Early word has been pretty mediocre to bad. It's not a port or a remake, it's more of a "re-imagining" that only resembles the original.
Anyone who has picked this up care to elaborate? I'm curious.
in basic mechanics in terms of gameplay, yes its the original. its a button smasher. enemies come at you hit them, some hit you, they die, you die. same concept as the TMNT arcade title on live.
this is meant to play with people either online or (preferably) face to face (to face to face, lol). same as the TMNT arcade title on live
graphics, to me, have a distinctive anime type quality to them. i dont mind it, it looks great. it was developed at Ubisoft's Shanghai Studios, so that could be why.
music is bad. it almost sounds like a really good MIDI file! the guitar shreds like its nobodys business though. no words in the title track (as seen in the arcade version). recommend you put in some vanilla ice (go ninja go!) in your custom soundtrack, for complete 90's authenticity.
on medium difficulty i was able to get to the Star Base level (6 i think) in the 1/2 hour i played. but i know in the arcade the difficulty would easily have been set to either hard or difficult, so i'll try that later today.
for my $10 its worth it. course i was a turtle fan and the arcade version was one of the biggest quarter suckers i've seen. its better than trying to find the SNES version on eBay though! try the demo
eatenbacktolife 08-05-09, 05:32 PM You can attack in "3D" now....meaning you can attack and jump in all 8 directions as opposed to a 2D plane. By default your character runs, so that neat little flip is gone, and the gameplay seems suitably faster now due to it.
As I've said like 4 times already the music is ****. Whichever chud is responsible for that can EAD.
Graphics are OK, if anything they are lacking personality considering the license. Looks like a generic 3D studio Max creation.
The game went off my radar when it was announced at $15, but I bit at $10. There is an astronomically higher caliber of Arcade titles you can buy for $10, like Splosion Man or Bionic Commando Rearmed. For a few nights of 4 player co-op it should serve it's purpose, but I don't see much staying power. I still have a mint SNES copy(with box and manual)!
^how much u want for that SNES copy (lol)

so far there are 2 metacritic scores for it.
http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/xbox360/teenagemutantninjaturtlesturtlesintimereshelled
team xbox rates: 88/100 - One of the best XBLA hack-and-slash classics ever to grace Xbox Live Arcade
ign rates: 59/100 - This shallow, generic brawler is coasting on nostalgia fumes and the TMNT brand. Ubisoft didn't ruin the original arcade game; it just didn't do enough with it. Virtually nothing has been added to the gameplay, so you're paying a premium for updated graphics you may not even like.
i can say this as well... usually any high profile game will be reviewed and critiqued to Metacritic the same day it comes out. which means the reviewers got copies well before the game came out. if it takes more than 1 day to get it enough reviews to make an averaged Metacritic score (4 reviews are required) that means the publisher didnt give out copies to the reviewers in advance. usually meaning gamers have to find out for themselves, which usually means its not that great.
for $10 i bit as well. as the reviews above show its a button smasher through and through. if you try to compare it to anything thats been out in the market (even in the last 10 years) it cant compare.
this is due to the industry and its market changing to different IPs and game-types. the 80's and early 90's were still about arcade type games. this game is from that era. playing with real people. after the late 90's its been about online.
i too noticed the 3D attacks. was it me or did i notice the boss characters still fire weapons only in 2D (left or right)
also ign can EAD, lol
eatenbacktolife 08-05-09, 06:15 PM ^how much u want for that SNES copy (lol)

Being a pack rat has it's benefits:) I'm going to bust the old discolored Super Nintendo out of it's original! box and give turtles a spin tonight.
Can't say I've read IGN in like the last 8 years, but they kinda hit it spot on. We traded good music for some awful ****, and the graphics don't make up for it. I would have paid 1200 spacebucks for a HD remix version with some real nice looking sprites and great tunes. Since I bought it with discounted points, I only really paid like $6 for it...I'm just bitching for the fun of it I guess.
my snes's purple eject buttons broken! remember everyone was alike "oh s#!t, it ejects when i push the button!". ye olde simple days
jhoff80 08-05-09, 07:07 PM Isn't the music from the SNES version? I haven't played in a while but it sounds very similar.
confidenceman 08-05-09, 07:09 PM if it takes more than 1 day to get it enough reviews to make an averaged Metacritic score (4 reviews are required) that means the publisher didnt give out copies to the reviewers in advance. usually meaning gamers have to find out for themselves, which usually means its not that great. Not at all true, especially with downloadable titles. Most of the time, review outlets get codes for free downloads, and those aren't usually redeemable until the game releases to the general public. So I wouldn't read anything into that detail.
hmm.... i've seen marvel vs capcom2 get ultra high metacritic scores at 1am last wednesday from at least 6 different outlets. maybe some publisher do it some dont?
Stryker412 08-05-09, 10:31 PM Why did they redesign the Roadkill Rodneys?

The arcade version always had those mechanical punching bags instead of RR. Consider the SNES version the definitive version of Turtles in Time.
