Hello,

I have a question about effective pixels and image quality. I am interested in trying to produce and market some music instructional DVD's but am concerned and unsure, even after research, about what kind of image quality I would get on a big screen TV using the Canon FS200.

Quick specs:
Total Pixels Approx. 680,000 pixels
Effective Pixels
4:3 - approx. 340,000 pixels (ADV.Z* off)
16:9 - approx. 360,000 pixels (ADV.Z off)
16:9 - approx. 450,000 pixels (ADV.Z on, wide)
16:9 - approx. 360,000 pixels (ADV.Z on tele)

<Won't let me post url to Canon, called me a 'spammer'>

I understand it is not going to be HD uber quality, but I would like it to be more than exceptable for viewing purposes. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

Thank You.

it's an mpeg2 standard definition camcorder, max 9mbps, so i wouldn't worry too much about the pixel count... the lines of resolution is what counts, in controlled lighting conditions like a music instructional video.

you'll have to really babysit the workflow in order to get the best picture quality, because you are acquiring footage at nearly the same bitrate that you'll be delivering it at.
