A bit of cool praise (http://www.pushsquare.com/1784/stuff-magazine-names-playstation-3-one-of-the-top-10-gadgets-of-the-past-decade/comment-page-1/) for our little black box:

British gizmo publication Stuff have published their anniversary issue, honouring the greatest gadgets from the past 10 years. Included as some of the most monumental pieces of kit from the past 10 years are Apple's iPod and the Blackberry. As for third place - well that accolade goes to the Playstation 3, thanks to its range of exclusive content, unrivalled hardware specifications and unbeatable media capabilities.

As for the biggest flops - look no further than the SEGA Dreamcast and HD-DVD.

after owning a ps3, i don't think i could go without it. It's media capabilities and blu ray alone make it a must for me. let alone all the games that have me addicted.

nice to see it's appreciated.

i own a ps3, but saying it is #3 is a little high, partly because there was already a ps1 and 2.. (yes i understand this one is different) but it didn't have the impact that other gadgets did like the ipod and blackberry..(go ahead flame me for this) but if anything it should have been the wii strictly because it was something completely different and changed the mindframe of the gaming industry as a whole (both sony and MS are now coming out with some sort of motion control device) and introduced games to a crowd that has never been into it before... is it my fav. console NO, but can i deny the impact of the wii, also NO....

^ HATER!

J/K. I kindof agree with you except the Wii thing. If anything I would put it in the top 10 fads of all time, right after the hula hoop and the pet rock.

Actually, I just changed my position. I don't agree with you at all. PS3 all in one entertainment center FTW.

The PS3's definitely changed my entire living room entertainment setup. All 120+gigs of music, all 50+gigs of tv video files, all my DVDs and BDs, (almost) all my gaming.

Meanwhile, my 360 and my Wii are both camped out next to one another, waiting for the game drought to end, and neither has any other reason to be put to use.

Blasphemous bastards hating on the Dreamcast. Is the UK "Stuff" better than the US version like Maxim was?

Putting the 360 in the same gaming sentence with the Weak, i mean Wii is kinda silly;)

Nothing wrong with the Dreamcast or an HD DVD player as a "gadget". Peyton Manning would be a flop too if his offensive line weighed 150lbs. Lack of support doesnt mean they sucked;)

Putting the 360 in the same gaming sentence with the Weak, i mean Wii is kinda silly;)Let me put it this way: I've bought two Virtual Console games and one retail game for Wii in the past two months. In that same period, I've bought zero 360 games. And, trust me, I'd much rather that wasn't the case.

PS3 has become the center of my entertainment also. Bluray movies, games, upscaled dvds, playing music off my external HDD etc, etc. Gaming-wise it's served me well since I moved to the UK as all PS3 games and a good deal of blurays are region-free(plus dual voltage).

dreamcast was the best one

just didn't have the supportSupport is the most important factor in a console being great. And the hardware wasn't anything special either. All it had were some great exclusive Sega games. Sad that the great Sega games from that era never got topped once Sega went multi-platform.

I love my PS3 and Sony should really just make a series of simple ads showing just how much this box can do, I find myself always telling someone you can stream media, play online for free, store your media locally, use built in wireless, etc... The game line up is great this year with some top notch exclusives, BD is picking up steam and support for other media formats is just a cherry on top.

You take the words out of my mouth. I have 2 also and I couldn't go without it. After 10 years of trying tons of things to be a perfect center of my media I found it in the PS3. I don't even play games on it (except Rock Band and a few other mis games). I just wish my 1st PS3 was as quite as my 2nd lol!

With TVerstiy, Ive set up at least 5 of my friends to stream movies and mp3's to theirs even though they have no concept of how its done. Takes 5 minutes to setup.
