In a room where there will be three tvs together would it be best to make them all different brands? I will be most likely getting the MX980 remote and its other component that will be able to send signals to just turn on the certain ones, but if for some reason I don't get the 980 what would anyone on here suggest? Thanks.

I guess what I am actually asking is it better to get different brands of tvs or should it not be a problem if I have the MX980? Thanks.

If you get the same brand of TV then you are most likely going to have to use an RF remote with a base station. Then you will run an emitter cable from the base station to the front of each TV. That would be about the only way to control them seperately.

That's where the Mx980 would be a necessity. If I don't get the MX980 then it would probably be best to get different brands?

Even with different brands, you have to be careful that they do not use the same set of ir commands. For example, Sony TVs codes are used on some Westinghouse TVs, LG TVs use the same set of ir commands as many other manufacturers like Vizio. I believe Samsung and JVC usually uses codes not used by anyone else (but it's not like it is proprietary codes, so anyone could use it). Those are just some I can think of off the top of my head. There are many examples of different brands using the same ir protocols, but it's hard to tell without knowing what brand and model you have in mind, but generally, brand names tend to be consistent throughout their lines and USUALLY do not interfere with other brand names, and lesser known brands can be all over the place, including using an ir set of a known brand.

Yeah, I don't know what the best way would be?
