TyrantII 05-04-09, 09:19 AM My 60gig Hard Drive is half full, so naturally I want a bigger one. What is general public consensus on which HDD to use in a PS3??? A 2.5 SATA SSD HDD (http://www.king-cart.com/cgi-bin/cart.cgi?store=dvnation&product_name=Samsung+2.5+256GB+MLC+SATA-2+SSD&exact_match=exact) Gonna sacrifice a few GB, but you make it up in speed and heat reduction. lil' pricey though. edit: Love that pliers have become a widespread AVS PS3 subforum net MEME :) 257Tony 05-04-09, 11:17 AM I just ordered a cheap Fujitsu 320 from newegg for like $59, I'll let you know how it works in a couple days. TyrantII 05-05-09, 12:16 PM My research has shown that SSDs are SLOWER than regular HDDs. Yeah, you're probably right. I think I was remembering someone here comparing a SSD he used vs the 5200rpm SATA drive for data access; but again, I'm not an expert by an means. Techs too steep for my blood. fcorona76 05-05-09, 12:43 PM Gotta make sure you get one where your piers can get the nails in properly. <hides> <finds you/tag, you're it> Do you have a link? Notsobright 05-05-09, 03:12 PM i went for the 500gb. never had any problems since. and it only cost less than one hundred. 60SXRD 05-05-09, 05:29 PM Same here, no issues. Me three. Keep an eye on bensbargains.net, they come up for sale pretty often. cjs2000 05-26-09, 09:24 AM I have the 320gb WD Scorpio. Works like a charm. Add me to the list of those running the 320GB Western Digital Scorpio. I bought a refurbished Dell Mini 1010 netbook for $245+tax a couple of weeks ago. It was supposed to have a 160GB drive. For some reason, it came with the 320GB Scorpio Blue in it. Last night I swapped my 60GB PS3 drive into the Dell and I have a 320GB PS3 now. Both devices are working fine after the surgery, and the Dell runs better after a clean install of XP without all the pre-loaded junk. I split it into 35GB and a 25GB partitions and am thinking I might try Ubuntu out. And who needs 320GB in a netbook in the first place? This drive will be much better utilized in the PS3. mave198 05-26-09, 02:18 PM http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=477 Have a nice day.
