I have an In Focus 7210 PJ which currently is connected through DVI (A Bravo DVD), and a component source (Satellite SD TV). I am finally upgrading to HD satellite TV and I will need to reach the PJ with cable from another direction with all the changes being made that means buying and running the 3 component cables thru a couple walls and 15 or so floor 2x12 supports.

However, I already have a few HDMI cables and if there exists an HDMI/DVI connector (no doubt alot cheaper), maybe I could hook up the new HD satellite box with an HDMI cable and use this HDMI/DVI connector at the PJ end? That would also allow for a lot smaller hole and I would need only one.

Is there such a a HDMI/DVI connector changer?

Many thanks,
Tom

It will work just fine. Only potential issue is if your sat box requires HDCP and your projector doesn't support HDCP.

Thanks for your information.

I'll check with Dish before I make a move as to what their duo sat box has. No clue iif the In Focus 7210 supports HDCP or not. Not even emntioned in the manual and maybe not with only one DVI input and 2 Components.

It's tapping my memory but I don't think it does support HDCP. A quick call to Infocus tech support should be able to answer that.

Normally though, sans HDCP, an adaptor works aokay.

One thought...isn't that an M1 plug instead of DVI? Maybe someone else can chime in but most the Infocus use the M1 (looks similar, but it is actually larger). Regardless, they do have those for HDMI as well.

I think the stereophile (or their HT mag) said something about there being a DVI-HDCP M1DA connector, but also sounded like there was a separate DVI?

Actually he said 7120, those should be HDCP (I thought I read 7200). But still, it would require an M1 to HDMI, not DVI to HDMI.

You can also get an HDMI to M1 cable from monoprice and avoid the adaptor.

Indeed, though I think he already has the cables run thus the reason for the adaptor instead (I might have misread).
