After 14 years as an adult I finally find myself in the position for a dedicated Home Theater:).

My first choice is Projector, the room is 400sq ft and I could use any size screen I want. A nice rectangle(16 x 25).

The Runco is 720p and the Sony is 1080p, I have a PS3 and will use the theater for gaming and movies and sports. A local retailer is trying to talk me into a 2.4:1 Stewart screen and the Runco. I could buy a Sony Projector and a 120" or 106" Elite Screen online for quite a bit less. I must admit the 2.40:1 screen is amazing!

I'm curious what other people would do?

For the people that have a 2.40:1 screen, is it worth it?

Also, does anyone know if the lens you need for a 2.4:1 picture available for the Sony?

Sorry for all the questions, I want to do this right.

Thanks

Chris

How about telling us the percentage of use (games, movies, sports, and tv)?

I might suggest going DLP if you can. Pending you don't have any issues with them (Rainbows or such), they are by far the best for a "gaming nut".

Runco is good stuff, but you do pay a premium for it as well. What sort of budget do you want to be in?

I could go 7000-10000.

Here's everything i need for our new house:

Screen---Basement
Projector---Basement
On Wall Surround, preferably Klipsch--basement
Bookshelf Speakers, preferably Klipsch--Great Room
New AV Receiver---Great Room
52" Tv---great room

Deducting all the other stuff I need I'd say 4000-6000 for projector and screen.

This is assuming I do all the install work myself:)

I should come talk to you. I live in Buffalo and travel to Rochester for business weekly. Maybe you could help me out! We close on the house June 5th and I want to hit the ground running!

Or I can come out to you so I can see what's what. I travel all over anyways. Your budget is very doable. One thing you might consider, is the Planar PD8150. It is getting rave reviews and of course is DLP. It pretty much is the best DLP (or one of) in the under $10k range, and within your budget (fortunately you are in my territory thus the reason why).

If you want to drop me a PM or email, feel free!
