Hi Guys, i have the SA 8240hdc - TWC version. I'm guessing it's the latest box in my area (Northeast Ohio) ??

I've seen online that some providers have special menus you can get into with hitting a series of keys on the box but I haven't been able to get any to work. I'm guessing my box is locked down.

Anyhow, Any suggestions ?

I got an 8240HDC DVR from Cox OKC today and learned that I could access the setup screen, used to tell the box which video resolutions my HDTV supports, by turning it off and then simultaneously pressing the GUIDE and INFO buttons on the front of the box. This brought up the first page of a setup screen on my HDTV, which guided me through the process. It was a good thing, too, because by default of the box upconverted every non 1080i signal to 1080i. I don't like that. I prefer, instead that the box transmit 720p, 480p, and 480i programs at their native resolution and leave upconversion to my AV receiver, a Yamaha RX-V3900.

My primary DVR is a TiVo Series3, so the 8240, which replaces an 8300 that died, is just a backup. Thus, it will probably take me awhile to completely put it through its paces. So far, though, it has worked well.
