Trying to decide on a new projector for a new theater build. Does anyone have any experience with Vidikron 15 or 10? Searched forum and can't seem to find any reviews anywhere. This unit appears to be only dealer sold and a local dealer said he could get me a good price on it. Looking to use it in a 14x30 basement on 110" or 120" 1.85 screen.

Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Found some info on the projectors you listed. Not sure if they are current models but your dealer should be able to provide you with that information.

The Vidikron Vision Model 10 was a Native 1024x576 DLP 1 chip dlp that retailed for just under 3k when new. Contrast was 2400:1. You can download the cut sheet and manual here:

The 15 was native 720 dlp machine with 3000:1 contrast started at $5995 msrp.

Thanks for the links. Still trying to find a review and see if this the way to go. I am leaning towards the Vidikiron 15 because it does 1080P.

The closest thing I could find to a review was this (http://www.aboutprojectors.com/Vidikron-Vision-Model-15ET-projector.html).

This pj will only do 720 because thats it's native panel resouloution. It will upscale to 1080i but that's not what I think you really mean and want ??

That projector was released in the fall of 2007. Since then there have been many competing products that are 1080P, brighter with higher contrast. You need to broaden your search and do some reading here about available projectors.

Strategicly it was the cheepest projector that Vidikiron made. you may want to look at some of the best projectors that other companies make that actually have a lower MSRP.

This article may get you familiar with some projectors that are talked about here most often:

You might need a translation. There is a difference between the resolution (480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p) that a projector could accept for display and what the projector will change it to and display it at. The projector in question will display everything it receive at 720p. That`s what its native resolution is. Not all 720p machines can accept 1080p in. I don`t know if the 15 can or not. Most will accept 1080i, change it to 1080p (called deinterlacing) and then scale it down (throw part of the detail away) to change it to 720p, the only resolution the projector can put out).

So with a 720p projector, you will be throwing away part of the detail at 1080i and part of detail for bluray disc which are 1080p. The other issue is screen size and viewing distance. If you have good eyes, you will have to sit a few feet further away from a 720p display than a 1080p display not to see the grid lines.
