can't wait to get my hands on this. if it's gta set in the wild west i should be good to go until ps4.
code brown 05-06-09, 05:47 PM +1 looks very cool. Loved GTA4!
was waiting for a Wild West game for a while....
thanks for posting!
Thanatos9 05-06-09, 07:32 PM Definitely has potential... looks like the gta 4 engine, makes sense.
Slightly off topic, are they ever going to make a Gun sequel? Think I enjoyed that one slightly more than red dead revolver last gen.
WJonathan 05-07-09, 12:03 PM I read the Game Informer preview and got pretty excited. I've secretly wanted Bethesda to do a pseudohistorical American western action/RPG with the Oblivion engine. Man that would be awesome, although it prolly wouldn't sell too well.
But yeah Red Dead could be the western I've wanted. The first one was a lame arcade shooter, and Gun started really well but just got weird. Turned into a super-gory cross between Indiana Jones and the Wild Wild West tv show.
Lol, I saw the Red Faction video preview and thought "WTF, mechs in the old west?!?" And who is that main actor, I swear I know that voice...and didn't that sound like Annie Potts at the end?

Thoroughly enjoyed playing and watching people play Red Dead Revolver. That last boss was a bee-otch.
Will keep my eye on this one.
jremy510 05-07-09, 05:46 PM The original was in no way a "GTA set in the wild west" so I'm hoping this won't be like that. I loved the first one and am really looking forward to this.

multi-player has been confirmed.
Chris Ruhl 05-09-09, 01:28 PM How in the heck are we going to use rocket launchers in the multiplayer game when they hadn't been invented yet????
Yeah, this is going to be a good one, I think.... I may have to go and break out Red Dead Revolver now....
Dramatically more appealing than any GTA game. Very excited. I wish Bethesda was making it with the Fallout 3 engine, but oh well.
I hope they have an online option for the gun duel game as well... that was fun on the original.
IeraseU 05-09-09, 02:46 PM Red Dead Revolver was a great concept, although the execution fell a bit short. If this sequel can bring the 'Old West' to life in a convincing way, I think that it has a chance to become a franchise.
Anyone besides me still extremely excited about this game?! BTW, does anyone know the official release date?
TyrantII 09-30-09, 03:02 PM multi-player has been confirmed.
Hope they put more work into it then GTA then.

What the heck happened with GTA4 multiplayer? All the reviews were raving about how great it was and the couple of times I checked it out it was a lot of fun, but it just seems to have died really quickly. I don't play multi-player games much anymore so I haven't been following it.

It lost its novelty very quickly. Some games just shouldn't have a multi-player feature.
Very excited. There's no official date yet.

I played GTA4 a lot when I first got my PS3. I beat the game and dicked around with it all the time when buddies came over, but to be honest I never once even played it online.
I'm excited about RDR b/c I think the GTA4 engine could make for a really great western game...an era that has been pretty neglected in the video game world outside of a few decent games here and there.

Very quickly. It was a ton of fun when I first started playing, but the lobby and respawn systems were terrible.
Great driving around in a car with 3 other buddies hanging out the window, but once you died you spent 10 minutes trying to run back to the action.

Nah, it's not even that. It's just that it's a laggy, buggy, poorly implemented mess. Some game types you spend more time looking at a menu then playing, other's have bugs that boot you back to SP. Lags a problem due to bad servers, and no regional lockdowns.
Which is all funny, because even though it was broken on release, it didn't take any pts away on the major sites. Go figure.
I'm playing it now trying to get the MP trophy's, and it can be frustrating. The RR are also some of the worst griefers I've ever played against, but that's not surprising with the crowd GTA attracts. If the bugs don't pop up, if you can keep lag down, and find players who aren't total DB's; it can be surprisingly fun.
