OK this is audio craziness but...

I'm looking for some sort of timer to go on my refrigerator where it would default to ON but I could hit a switch and shut it off for a pre-determined period of time, say two hours.

Anyone seen any kind of product like that from any industry that could be adapted. It's got to be fairly simple and look decent.

Not too safe/healthy IMO.

If you have a "noise" issue... address that.

This (http://www.gralab.com/products/details.asp?ID=12) unit will probably accomplish what you need. But it is expensive as hell so it is doubtful it is worth it. They are quality units though, we use a couple in out clean room here at work.

I agree with Ratman though, you should just address the noise/EMI issue.

Love the idea, it even has a footswitch. But I called them and all their models default to an off state and time the on state. It is unchangeable.

Something similar to this (http://www.1000bulbs.com/Outdoor-Timers/37151/) might work with internal modifications (or driving an external logic reversing relay).

I've not been inside one to see what makes it tick, but there is some possibility you could simply move a wire from a normally open contact to a normally closed contact.
