View Full Version : Do I need a new HVPS? (For Marquee 8500)

Hi folks. I just tried powering up my Marquee 8500 today and the HVPS seemed to kick in for a milisecond but then go dead. I opened it up and things looked pretty dirty inside. I see three ceramic fuses, but hard to tell if those are dead or not. Anyways, nothing powers up now. Is it likely the HVPS, are there steps I can take to troubleshoot, or do I just need a new one?

Thanks in advance!
John

Hi Draganm. Yep, correct. Nada.

Thats the LVPS. just get a new one, heat probably killed some of the caps from all the dust in the case and probably the fans. But check the fuses with a multimeter that has continuity. It might just be that.

I've got spares with the P14 mod done.

yeah that's good, LVPS are cheaper than HVPS.:)

Thanks guys. Yep, I did have the P14 mod done before - the LVPS had gone a couple of years ago, so I replaced, so surprising it's gone again. But, that does make sense that it must be the LVPS (I'm remembering now that that one should be on first before the HVPS kicks in). Anyways, will follow up and get the new LVPS. Thanks!
John.

Guys!

I have seen where a short in the wired keypad or the IR sensor will take down the standby power, and it looks like a bad lvps; try unplugging those from the backplabe, under the red tube. You will have to take off the side panels to access those.
