My father just got an mp3 player and has a ton of songs that he ripped in .wav format.

If there is anything that could do this as a batch, that would be great. He's running Windows XP on his computer.

How about Windows Media Player, or Foobar2000!?

Like McClane77 mentioned WMP and Foobar2000 will do that. Foobar2000 uses the LAME application to do the converting. It's considered by many to be one of the best applications for this. Programs like winamp use LAME as well. You can also go to LAME's website http://lame.sourceforge.net to download the program. There are some good GUI's that utilize this program. Speek's multifrontend is one, but there are many others. For a no nonsense, easy start, I would go with Foobar2000 or winamp.

What kind of player does he have...if it's anything other than a Ipod...it will probably play wav's. My creative labs player plays both...you may not need to do anything

It's a CL Stone (2GB). The main concern is space.

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. Got plenty to work with here.
