Anyways how do I get the files on DVD so I can watch on my PS3 in HD? This isn't that easy of a question. Do you have any video editing software? Does your computer have firewire on it, or maybe an HDMI capture card? Do you want to view the video in HD or SD, SD as in DVD resoultion of 720x480? Do you have a standalone DVD recorder? If you have a DVD recorder (not talking about a DVDRW drive in your computer) then the easiest way to do this would be to take the AV Out of your camcorder and put it into any "line in" input on the DVD recorder. Of course, this will only give you SD resolution, but if you are fine with that, this is how I would do it. abeas 05-11-09, 02:34 PM I plan to use Sony Vegas or what ever that is recommended. This will allow up to roughly 30 minutes of HD footage to be burnt to a standard DVD and played in HD on a blu-ray player. You still will need a firewire port, or HDMI capture card to dump your video into your machine in HD. Apollo 13 05-11-09, 02:46 PM In that case, you need to create an AVCHD disk. I can't use the the burner on my computer? abeas 05-11-09, 03:10 PM I can't use the the burner on my computer? You can use the burner in your computer to burn a DVD from your editing software. I just meant that you can't hook your camera up to a computer's internal DVDRW drive. As far as losing quality going from the HDV format of mpeg-2 to mpeg-4 (AVCHD) I honestly don't know. It's possible that you may, but if you do, I doubt you would notice it. Either way, the AVCHD disc will look much better than a SD DVD. Apollo 13 05-11-09, 04:49 PM so all I need is a PC that has firewire, DVDs, and a PS3 and i'm good to go? I built my PC and it has firewire support on the mobo so I should be good. I plan to do very little editing and making some regular SD DVDs for friends that don't have BD players. abeas 05-11-09, 06:25 PM Right you need software too. If you are interested in Vegas, someone else can help you with how to make AVCHD discs in that program. I do not use that software.
