Does any AVS members own or know anything about this Pioneer projector?
What JVC display device would be comparable?

I've heard that is a product that has been discontinued, but other than that can't seem to find anything related to this display device in this Forum from which to draw helpful information and conclusions, so any comments and suggestions will be greatly appreciated...

Lots of threads on this. It is a JVC RS2 clone. They have been discontinued but you might still find some around if you look.

I should mention they were being cleared out for cheap so watch what you pay if you find one...some dealers are holding out for premium prices and there are actually newer, better projectors if the price goes up enough on the Pioneer.

Yeah...have seen some FPJ1s go for less than $3K in e-bay but not anymore--a few are being sold on bidding basis and are nearing the $6K mark already; but in no way am I interested in paying more than the lesser figure, so please tell me what are those newer and better projectors you mention above (by the way, thanks for posting! :) )?...

Well the RS10 is comparable (better in some ways, not as good in others). It runs well less than $5k. At nearly $6k for what some dealers are trying to get for the Pioneer, you could get the RS20 which is the replacement that is better in ALL ways. Just to name a couple.

It's a great projector.

I got one at an incredible price during the blowout.

I wish I would have bought more to resell! LOL

Good luck.

Imagine how I feel having dragged my feet and not jump at the opportunity when they were selling cheap (cheap in relative terms, of course ;) ) on e-bay!...

I wouldn't buy Elite products from Ebay unless confirmed by Pioneer.

I agree...especially if they are claiming it is new...
