I'm about to move into my first home. I'm currently planning the basement. I've got a new Brunswick pool table, a skee ball table, dart board, air hockey table, and a ping pong/beer pong table.

The space is 30'x40', but one side of it is currently occupied by the washer/dryer, bathroom, hot water heater, etc. so it's essentially a 15'x30' space.

I'd like to get some suggestions on other items to consider for the space that aren't terribly expensive (as much as I'd like a pinball machine, 22' shuffleboard, and arcade game). We'll likely be hosting many parties for people early to mid 20s.

I'd also like some ideas for the bar that I plan to build. I'd like it to accommodate a 24 cu. ft. kegerator in the form of a chest freezer. I've found an individual selling old bowling lanes that I'd like to use for the bar top. I figure it will need to be a long straight bar where the kegerator will fit underneath. I'm currently thinking that it would be 12' or so long and 3' or so deep, but I'm open to any ideas. Thanks!

Depends on your taste in games - depends on what you mean by "aren't terribly expensive".

Skeeball can sit along a wall and dart board can sit on a wall but a pool table is a space eater along with regulation size ping-pong and air hockey.

Are all but the pool table coin-op games or consumer?

Foosball takes up relatively small space. Pinball actually takes up relatively small space and are SO MUCH fun.

Want pinball? Don't go to one of those fancy "home gameroom" stores - go online and join pinball website groups in your geographic area and search craigslist and similar sites. Most home pin gamers seem to prefer Williams and Bally games from the mid to late 90s and fun games can be found by a careful shopper for between one and two thousand bucks.

Games I often find in this price range are Terminator 2 and Fish Tales - we found our Twilight Zone for $1900 - WOW - great game.

Shop Around - having a pin or two is mandatory for a good home gameroom.

have you tried searching for a multi game table? like it has air hockey, foosball, and other games in one table? it's definitely a space saver..

Have you considered a fruit machine/one arm bandit. These can be pretty entertaining solo or with friends. You can pick them up on eBay relatively cheaply as well.

Its interesting that you mention a fruit machine. I thought about picking one up for my basement, but I wonder how much fun it would be when you really have nothing to win?

how do you actually play fruit machine? i've never tried that one.

i see now.. googled it up.. like the one they used in casinos.

I use our slot with real money. I just tell my friends that if they win they get to keep the winnings, but I get to keep any money they play. So far, I win.

i saw a 4ft foosball table.. aha.def. a space saver. but isn't it kinda difficult to play with? unlike the standard 4.5-5ft?
