Apparently, they will be releasing a "Deluxe Collector's Edition" box set of their new album that will include isolated audio tracks of the entire album, including vocals. I think this is a great idea, as it will give technically proficient listeners a chance to create their own discrete surround mixes.

Unfortunately, I'm not one of those technically proficient listeners. Yet. But I'd like to be. Any suggestions on what software would be needed to mix the tracks into surround, then burn it to disc? I have no idea at this point what format the tracks will be in. I assume it will be on a DVD, but no matter what, I'm sure the audio can easily be converted to WAV. I'm hoping for hi-res versions of the tracks so we can burn to DVD-A.

What are your thoughts on this idea of releasing the individual tracks. I'd love to see more bands do this.
