Hi Everyone

Is there any current model of projectors in the market that we can actually say the picture quality is the same as the Barco Cine9?
In terms of price is there much difference?
What i see is that for example Barco Cine9 comes with 35000:1 Contrast, and most of the new ones only bring like 1000:1; 1500:1...
I have the oportunity to buy a Cine9 new, but i would like to consider my options.
I need a projector good in the new digital sources and also analog sources (such as VHS; Laserdisc).

Cheers

My understanding is that there are some digitals that are quite excellent if you're willing to spend the money - which, presumably, you are, if you can buy a new Cine9. Or maybe you're just a lucky bastard.

Any kind of old analog source's quality will depend on the scaler / processing rather than the output device at this level.

go and look at a JVC RS20, it has 15K:1 native CR and doesn't weight 100 Kilo's.

I could be wrong but I'd figure a brand new Cine9 to be >$30K?

If you're looking at those sorts of dollars, I'd be asking your question in the $20K+ forum, a few users there are using DCI projectors or big 3 Chip DLPs. Personally I'd investigate the Sim2 Lumis, loads more lumens than a Cine9, unheard of ANSI CR performance, great sharpness and colours, and awesome on/off with its dynamic black feature (better than the RS20 in comparisons done).... of course, its a completely different picture to a CRT
