i have a pc that i run rhapsody on. i'd like to distribute this signal throughout the house. i have a 3.5mm splitter on the output from the pc. this 3.5mm output is sending a signal to a receiver in my office for in wall speakers there. but when i hookup another 3.5mm cord to distribute to whole house receiver the office speakers then have a 'tinging' noise. any thoughts??? thx, jay

I'm not certain but I think you just need a better quality Mini RCA Jack splitter. And I don't know where to get one from! That's what I want to know!

I have a similar question posted over on the computer section with no results yet. I had my sat. connected the same way, out of the lap top "headphone out" to "aux in" on the surround processor, so that I could listen to music. The quality of the sound was not as good as CD, but the music was more important at the time. Why isn't there a digital optical out on my lap top?

Instead of using a splitter, you might try going out the back of your office receiver (does it have tape out, or zone 2, or anything like that?).

It could be the output from your PC is just not strong enough to split.

You're not answering the question. He needs to come "out" of the computer and "in" on the receiver, not the opposite.

Right. He wants to come out of the computer and into *two* receivers.
I was suggesting that if a splitter on the computer output is not working well, he might try going from the computer into one receiver, then going out that reciever and into the second one.

Okay, I overlooked the two receivers.

If you want to pay a lot but have it work nice try http://rogueamoeba.com/airfoil/ + a pair of Airport Express devices.

mym6, ok i'm new on this... but if i'm using rhapsody would this software work? would i actually be streaming the music to the airport express device?

Yea, AirFoil will take any audio from your computer from any app (or combination) and send it out to their free AirSpeakers apps running on another computer or to Apple's Airport Express. I think it works with the Apple TV as well. I have an Airport Express that I use to stream music from iTunes running on my mac mini to receiver. The AE is configured to join my existing wireless network and it does audio and shares a printer. The AE provides analog as well as optical audio from a single port.
