View Full Version : Wrong startup order - no sync. Why ?

Hello all,

It's been some time since I last visited this forum, let alone posted in it...

Anyway, I've been experiencing that my pj (NEC 6PGextra) will not sync at startup. Usually, I will start up my Lumagen HDP videoprocessor and video equipment at once ( one main power switch), then the projector. This however no longer seems to work.

If I start the Lumagen first, and then the projector, it will sync with no problem. But should not the projector be able to run and automatically sync to basic video even wih no incoming signal at input ?

It sounds like the Def board may be starting to play up (the sync circuits are on the def board in an Xtra).

But it's not good practice to run an NEC without a signal.

I ALWAYS start the sources before firing up the projectors. NECs sit there and squeal like a stuck pig without a source.

Mark, thanks for your input.

Yeah, suspected that something was playing up but would not have a clue to what part of the projector. Would a working spare Defboard be hard to find these days ? Otherwise I will have to get a bulb projector...

Just started it up now and had all sources on BEFORE projector; and there was no problem ! Just hope my pj will have a couple of years of useful operation left before retirement....
