hi , i was wondering if anyone here has hooked this unit up to there Star choice sattelite receiver and there TV As soon as i hook the vidio cabel from star choice to my DVR it starts cutting out my sattelite signal until i unplug just the yellow vidio cable. If i leave it plugged in it keeps freezinf my sattelite until it shorts it out, i have replaced 3 Satttelite recievers and Pioneer now has my DVR player and said it is fine nothing wrong with it. I have my Star choice with its coax input from dish, then the 3 L< R audio and Vidio cable to my Pioneer 660, then my rogers coax to my Pioneer input and coax out put from Pioneer to my tv, also the same 3 L<R and audio cable from the Pioneer output to my tv input 1, it all works fine for like 10 minutes then when i am watching my sattelite it starts flickering from red no signal to green signal until i unplug the yellow vidio cable to my DVR. anyone that can help would be great scared to use on my dish anymore.
attlee, is it possible you are running the output from your Star Sat. to the output of your 660? Are you running S-Vid, or composite RCA cables?
The best connection from your Star receiver to your 660 would be S-Vid, and R/L RCA audio cables to the Line 1, or Line 2, input set on the back of your 660.
hi Kjbawc, i hooked it up with the composite vidio cable L and R and vidio and also with 2 L and R rca and a s vidio to my 660 to the input 1 and i get the same results. Do you have this DVR and star choice? I have called star choice to see if its compatable and Pioneer has my DVR right now and cannot find anything wrong with it, I have no clue what is causing this, i also have rogers basic cable hooked directly to the DVR and it works ok.
I have a Pio 640, which is very similar, but I have Comcast cable, not sat. service. About all I can suggest is to try some cable switching, to try and find a problem.
First, at the 660, unplug the cables that come from your Sat. receiver, and plug them into your TV's inputs. Do you get picture and audio on your TV that way? If so, try plugging them into the L2 inputs on the back of your 660, and see if that set works. You'll have to select that input with your input select button, on the remote.
If you had a cable box from Rogers, you could see if its line outs work with the 660.
Your problem sounds like it could be caused by miss-matched output/input levels, but, I can't see how that could happen, if things are hooked up right.
Do you have, or can you borrow, a VCR, and hook the sat. receiver to it with composite cables, and see if that works?
Also, run the outs from that VCR to the 660, play a tape, and see if it shows up on the 660.
