I have a weird problem with the Optoma HD65 that I bought refurbished from a Toronto online provider. It is showing the images like a posterized picture. It's not smooth and clear anymore. It's like muddy and posterized. Anybody seen this problem before? Please, need help badly. I'm afraid it is the lamp that's going gonzo already after a week's use.
Thanks

Nope, it's not the lamp. There is no way the lamp can cause that. You may have serious issues with the projector. Does the menu look normal or is it also affected?

I didn't notice it in the menu or guide. I turned off the projector and after 2 hrs I turned it back on, and the problem was gone. No more posterized like picture. I am just wondering maybe it's the color wheel. The problem is I won't be able to diagnose it properly. So it's happy times again for HD 65. I hope the problem won't come back again.:)

No, the color wheel won't do that. If the menu is normal while the rest of image is bad, then it is either your source or a problem with that input on your projector.

I don't know if it's the input coz I tried it on my HD-DVD player too and they have the same picture result. I don't know if this may help but I am using an HDMI switcher I bought from M-price. I don't see that problem anymore but maybe it's the switcher.
Thanks,

Okay, back to basics. If it does occur again, eliminate everything you can. Try your sources direct, one at a time, and see if what happens.

Yes, X2 for the sherlock holmes' "eliminate all that is possible, then whatever remains..." method.
Maybe a bad cable? Anything else in the equation besides the switcher, such as a receiver, etc.? I've seen it mentioned that some receivers have handshake issues...

You might be right about the cable thing. I bought a cheapo HDMI cable from XScargo (Canadian surplus store) and I was switching back and forth from HD PVR box to HD DVD player (where the cheapo cable is connected) and then I just had the problem.

Yup, try wrapping the connectors and a little length of the cable next to the connector with some electrical tape, might just be some interference...
