Hello all, well I just installed two Polk LCI65 in wall speakers. Unfortunately the wall they were installed in was rather shallow. I the backs of the speakers actually are going through the wall behind them because there is not enough depth in the wall.

It is not a huge deal because they are both protruding into bedroom closets. However I would like to conceal the backs somehow buy building something around the rear of the speakers. They are only sticking out of the wall about 1/4 of an inch. Was hoping someone on here could give me some ideas. I wish there was some type of plastic box i could screw into the drywall around the speaker but I haven't found anything that would work. Another idea I had was just building the drywall up around the speakers. The speaker size is 14-1/8" H x 8-1/2" W. Thanks for any help or suggestions guys.

Have you considered building like a frame that's around 1/2" to 5/8" thick around the opening for the speakers. It may make them look like they are protruding a little. Maybe some trim on the frame to give some aesthetic appeal. Just an idea.

Ya that would have been an idea, although the speakers are already installed with the two holes in the closets.

I guess then build the frame around the back holes and put a piece of wood or drywall on as the backing? Then if you want, mud texture and paint for aesthetics.

Ya that's what I was thinking too

Of course, how do they sound so far? Have you tried them yet? Good opportunity in this case to test them before sealing them up.
