Hello guy's.
I have a pioneer receiver that has a 9 band eq. During some music listening or in movies i can hear some really high frequencies and it hurts my ears .
My receiver has set for the left and right 16 hz @ +3 db,And i want to turn it down so the high notes won't be so over whelming. If i do this will i kill the audio performance? I just don't want to mess any thing up. so, this why i ask first.

It is likely you are clipping the amp. But, if it sounds better with the HF lowered, then it could simply be you have a bright room.

You cannot mess anything up that cannot be repaired by simply removing the EQ. OTOH, 16Hz is not treble but very low bass.
