Comcast had to swap out my cable box this morning which required me to use one of their HDMI cables. The previous cable box was connected with a 24 aug Monoprice DVI-HDMI. The cable provided by Comcast is very thin, does not have ferrite cores, and is manufactured by an unknown party. Does anyone know if Comcast provides quality cables? Should I premptively order a cable from Monoprice to avoid potential future problems?

turn on the cable box...
turn on the tv...

if you get a picture and it's not filled with sparklies or dropouts, the cable is fine...

if i had to wager, the cable that came with your comcast box is sourced from the same place that the monoprice ones are... ;)

I believe that Monoprice sells their cables to some of the cable providers. I agree it possibly came from the same source. You can tell by looking for for a brand on the cable itself.

Does the cable work? If yes, then there is no improvement to be had.

Comcast-provided HDMI cables that I've seen are short, and at that distance I've never seen a failure. Unless the cable fails, don't worry.

And if the cable works now, it's highly unlikely you'll have any future problems (as long as you don't connect and disconnect the cable frequently).

Even then the cable should still last long but not as long as if you connect and disconnect it.
