After looking for the Sharp DT-510 days...make that weeks, on end, I decided to contact Sharp. I asked if this projector was still in production.

Their reply:

Thank you for contacting Sharp Electronics Corporation.

Yes, we are still manufacturing this projector. Unfortunately we aren't selling at it at the moment. However I have done an Internet search. Amazon is currently selling it.

The rest of the e-mail wants my opinion on their support response. So hopefuly this projector shows up at the next big holiday sale. (fingers crossed). At a decent price.

Sorry if you covered this elsewhere already, but what do you need -- why does the Sharp seem to be the only PJ for you?

No I didn't cover this elsewhere.

My new theater room is only 12'x12'. Throw distance will only be ~10'8". Room is in the basement so it is 100% light controlled. The DT-510 will give me the 93" to 108" 16:9 diagonal screen I am looking for. Seating will be ~11' from screen. Ceiling is only 7'7" high.

I have a DT-500. I largely bought it for the same reasons that you list.

I have to warn you that with the PJ directly overhead, it will be a bit loud. I love the image that it throws, but during quieter moments, the fan is definitely heard.

At this point, I'm not sure how many new ones are out there. If you are interested in a used one, there is one for sale on this site -- nothing to do with me, but I did see it listed. There are also a couple on the Bay, but I know that some people don't want to take that risk.

Good luck. Maybe there are other choices as well.

Did you check out the link that I had sent you last week?? That was a good deal and they were in stock unlike the first link I had sent you. The fan is a little loud like he was saying, but I was shocked by the picture quality.. it was amazing!

Yes I did but it was oos when I got there. I must be getting slow in my old age. There are a couple that have shown up on e-bay. But I was wondering...Does Sharp still honor the warranty on pj's bought on there? I was looking at the new one not the demo one.

I don't know if they still honor them, $800 on Ebay is a bit much though. I looked at that site this morning and it says that they are in stock and I am pretty sure that they are new.. I think that it would be your best bet. I will send you you the link again.
