I have this machine and a few broadcast masters as well. If "Babs" isn't your thing I have quite a few other concerts as well. These tapes are one generation down from the edited master. Sending these through my processor and scaler chain yields outstanding upconversion to 1080P.
It just shows that NTSC done right was not such the evil most videophiles thought.
This looks like Glimmie's version of dcvideo.com. No disputing that when it's done right that it looks good. The problem is when they lowpass filter the old D2 stuff to get rid of line twitter, you wind-up getting about 240 lines of resolution and it looks a little blurry (no matter how good your scaling equipment is).

Yes, D2 sucks! I went through that hell in the early 90s. Sony and Ampex were proud as peacocks showing the vectorscope playback of color bars with no noise. But when you do the math, the chroma bit depth was around 5-6 bits with an 8 bit system. The picture always had a "cartoon" look to it.

Is there a Zeuse(sp) TBC in there?
I believe that is ZEUS. Maybe you were thinking of Doctor Seuse? Only doctor Glimmie knows what is in that thing (type C).

No, I was thinking of the Zeus TBC that Ampex made for the VPR series of C band VTR's.
My question was directed at the OP.
I'm well aware of what the Zeus time base corrector is. You did spell the name incorrectly and then put a question mark at the end of your query without specifically directing it to anyone. Dr. Seuss wouldn't approve. Anyway, the (legendary) Zeus was "the" TBC in its day. However, it has been eclipsed by the better digital processing of today.

great!

I'm not sure why you keep bringing this up, hence my confusion over weather you actually knew what you were talking about.
Why don't we call a trooce on this. You must be a VTR buff to pickup on the Zeus. Not many AVS forum members probably ever heard of one, let alone an Amtec or Colortec.
