My equipment:
Nuvo Essiantia (4 Key pads) - not hooked up. Not sure if i need this system
Nuvo xm
Yamaha v570
Computer with 2 touch panel screens.
Aavatrix -coming soon
6 tvs - 3 lcd and 3 plasma
infocus In72 projector

Speakers in:
game room (2)
kitchen (2)
living room - 5.1 (inwall by Monoprice)
Master bedroom (2)
Master bath room (1)
Master Closet (1)
Movie Room -7.1 not sure if i want it included in all the control may be seperate.
I may add my 3 kids room w/ audio as well. (undicided)

I would like to be able to play sound through the whole house either computer, receiver or whatever input. Also my computer plays 5.1, How do i get it to play 5.1 by using those 3.5mm adapter?

Do i really need the Nuvo i am planning on buying the Audio Authority aavatrix for all my switching. Plus with the touch panel using cqc or main lobby is the nuvo really necessary.

Do i also need some kind of 8 or 12 channel amp? I was looking at the speakercraft.

The Nuvo does seem redundant with the AVAtrix. I'd start running the CAT 5 around the house, and make the Yamaha your hub. You'll need wall-plates, or the 9880 wherever you want sound or the same TV channel.

I agree to use a separate 7.1 for the entertainment center, and your PC may or may not have optical out for 5.1. If not, you need an upgrade.

I'd hire out a job like this, as it may seem simple to buy everything, but you're going to encounter some bumps along the way.

If you ask in the $20K + forum, you'll get advice from professional installers. They may have a better idea of equipment to use.

BTW Harman Kardon has A-Bus (CAT 5) distribution built-in to their AVR's.

Thanks MLK. I am a real diyer. I have ran 2 cat 5e and 2 cat 6 to all locatications as well as the speaker wire. My pc also has 5.1 optical out. Do i use a 3mm adapter for eact out? Thanks on the info on the Harmon Kardon, i did not no that. I will look into the $20k forum. that 20k cost scares me. lol The Avatrix only has 6 inputs thats why i thought i need the nuvo. Maybe i will sell the nuvo.
