Projector Choices:
I have been researching Pjs for MONTHS. I have read countless reviews on the Benq W5000, Epson 6100 and Epson 6500ub. I ended up spending a little more on my house than I planned (first time buyer). I would like to keep the projector price under $2500 Canadian (Call that $2100 US dollars).
Focus issues scare me, as a PC user I believe I will notice focus problems. From what I have read the Benq w5000 has hardly any FI problems while the Epson 6100 seems to be plagued with them.
On the other hand the bulb life on the new Epsons is a big plus given my usage requirements. I doubt I'll get more than 2 years out of 3000 hours.
I found a killer deal on a lightly used (12 hours) Benq W5000 for $1900 Canadian and that includes a Benq 1 Year Canadian warranty.
The lowest price I have seen on the Epson 6100 is $2170.
Does anyone think I should wait and see how the Benq W6000 is? I imagine it will be out of my price range. The Epson 6500ub is also very enticing but again out of my price range.
Usage:
I plan on using the PJ as my primary computer screen. My HTPC drives all my blu-rays, HD-DVDs and PC games.
Room specs:
Basement with one small window that is recessed above the false ceiling. I plan to mount the screen below that window.
What would be the best way to blackout the window?
Wall to be projected on 113" Width x 83" Height.
Room length: 316"
Screen: I am going DIY and I have been researching the Wilsonart Designer White solution. Paint is also an option. Size I was thinking around 100".
There is a false ceiling with awful halogen bulbs (like what are used in most businesses). I guess they around 3.5 feet. There looks like a long support beam that runs down the center of the room (above the false ceiling) which I am fairly certain I can mount the PJ to.
I don't move in for two months but I am posting this because I am concerned the deal (Above) on the Benq PJ will disappear.
