Been viewing the shocker horror paranormal thriller The Fury form Brian DePalma for the past few nights.

It’s framed at 1.85:1 W/S colour doesn’t look all bad for film that was made back around (1978). It appeared on DVD region 2 around 2002.I picked up last year for good bargain at HMV for under a £10.00 pounds

Contrast and brightness values look okay its plentifully viewable and also notable for some nice camera techniques by Richard H Kline, A.S.C. (Star Trek the motion picture) and cool John Williams score to open the film with.

Took this sub bass or sw-re-mix with +10db level increase not that I play it this level when viewing the film, I have the level set at 0db. Since the sound mix on the film is a four-track mix there’s no discrete LFE.1 track, so all, I do is switch mode settings to give the soundtrack a bit more creditable impact.

Frequency waterfall of the opening titles that runs for 1 minute 52 seconds

The “new, new” placement of the JBL 4645 along with Eltax A12-R produces a pounding riveting bass that slowly rises as the horns and strings play.

Dialogue and some parcel effects along with occasional music may be heard in the centre, unless you mute left/right. It’s a rather odd four-track mix from this era; check it out its called THE FURY.

Please do not remake this film its cool enough as it is!

Oddly enough the imdb states it’s monaural? So I wonder if its re-mix or original soundtrack elements assembled for re-mix or was there a four-track 35mm mag version released as that was the norm back around the good ole days of 35/70mm magnetic.
