Hello,

I have movie on my computer that is an HD Rip, it is standard size, 4,37GB. My Pen Drive's space limit is 4GB.
I'd like to know if you could help me on software that will allow me to resize the video file so that it has 4GB, which makes me able to plug my Pen Drive on my Western Digital HDTV device. I do not mean resize as in changing the resolution in the video, just the disk space occupied by it.
I have read somewhere of a software that will resize your file to the size you want it to be, but I do not recall where I read it.

Obs: The video file is a .mkv

PS: I'm not sure if this should have been posted in this specific sub-forum, I am new here. If I was supposed to post this thread in another forum and/or sub-forum, I apologize.

Thanks you for your time. :)

Does it have many audio tracks? If so, remove some wont be using and that should work.

Erm, what program should I use for that? I've tried some progs but they weren't very compatible with .mkv

Buy larger USB flash drive. I bought 8GB one for $8.90 six months ago. I suggest 16GB at least if you want to watch HD MKV movies. Some are even over 8GB big.

larger flash drive won't help that much... it will help a little but it won't make his over 4GB file work

flash drives are limited to FAT16 or FAT32 limiting the size of an individual file to a max of 4GB*

the best options
a. larger flash drive, split the mkv file (use google to find out how)
b. find out if your device can read an NTFS formatted HD and get an external HD if not option A is better

*you CAN format a flash drive to NTFS (google for instructions) but it usually breaks compatibility with devices... for example the PS3 cannot read NTFS at all

Not true! Latest models support NTFS. Just check their specs before buying them.

nothing about NTFS in the specs on the page you linked to

also the forum post you linked to doesn't tell you anything except one person doesn't have an NTFS option and someone who is obviously not a Patriot CSR (posted as a guest, obvious typos... but like many CSRs they told the person to do something they just said they can't do)
