I recently purchased a Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blue-ray Disc Player. I have an older (meaning 4-5 years old) Sony 34" widescreen HDTV. I'm not sure of the exact model. My problem is that I cannot get the Blu-ray to communicate with the TV via HDMI. I would have thought that would have happened automatically, but it has not. I'm assuming I need to do something to make the HDMI slot on the TV "hot." Any suggestions?

I would simply check the owner's manual, but I cannot locate it.

Thanks.

Also have you tried changing the HDMI settings for the Panasonic DMP-BD60? The user manual for the Panasonic DMP-BD60 has a section explaining the various settings you can change for the HDMI output. If that is the user manual you have lost you can download the user manual for the Panasonic DMP-BD60 from here (http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/Blu-ray-Disc-Players/model.DMP-BD60K).

This may be a stupid question, but when you say:

I almost interpret that to mean that you are assuming that when you plug in HDMI that it will auto-switch to that input? Have you actually switched the TV to the HDMI input? Because obviously you need to switch to the input you're plugged into...

Again, I don't mean to suggest something so dumb, but I'm not clear whether you've actually done that, based on what you've said...?

And assuming we've moved past that, what do you see on the screen? Is the TV just not seeing anything and not syncing, or is it syncing and showing no picture, or is it showing snow?
