I was looking in my owners manual and noticed some seating restrictions that are hard to work around in a small room. Due to the unlikely event of the bulb popping, it is suggested that no one sits under the projector due to debris being blown out the exhaust vents. Does anyone adhere to this?

The bulb sits in an enclosed chamber. Even it were to explode, the chances of particles large enough to injure somehow managing to come out of the exhaust or intake fans are between nil and none since any openings to the outside usually have foam filters in place to keep dust out.

Never heard of such a thing happening, and most likely never will.

That's corporate lawyer talk. Lamp failures, while not common, are not UNcommon. How's that for double-speak? IOW, they do occur. It's happened to many of the projector's I maintain and nothing ever exits the vents.

The only hazard to sitting under a projector is having it fall because it wasn't mounted securely. I once saw some idiot velcro his to the ceiling.

Guess he wanted a compromise between the convenience of a ceiling mounted PJ, and easy portability in the even he did want to move it somewhere. But velcro? Safety aside, that's a lot of money to be hanging on by a few threads. Hope the velcro didn't have any lint in it.

I think 99.9% would agree the idea of lamp particles endangering someone is not likely.

On securing the projector properly in the mount...I would recommend the Chief Universal Elite series of projector mounts (RPM series). Not only do you properly allign the bolt heads with the slots on the mount, but you flip a lever the secures them in place...you can even lock the lever in place from there with the provided key. Overkill? Yes, but you know there is no way the projector is coming off it's mount. Now just make sure the mount is properly secured to the ceiling or attic joists. ;)

I just changed out my RPA series mount from Chief to this new mount. My projector is 25 lbs and the Anamorphic lens and it's attachment plate add another 20 lbs...so I have 45lbs hanging over my head.
