I need to ship a Sony CRT projector from Northern California to Sydney, Australia. Does anybody here have any experience shipping something this large internationally? Any recommendations on air freight or ocean liner companies?
I will need to get it crated/palletized as well, does anybody have any recommendations on where I can get that done and approximate cost?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think Curt palme uses BAX Global. I think the person who purchased it posted On the Curt palme CRT forum. Make sure you strap it to a palet and biuld a crate around the PJ and secure it to the pallet well. Add lots of Foam padding around the PJ so it does not move inside the crate but if you secured the G90 to the pallet with bolts going trough to the mounting holes of the PJ it should be fine.
i am sure some one else will add something I forgot.

BAX Global works best for me, only catch is they won't pick up from a residence due to "Homeland Insecurity" regulations. I used a packing company in CA once http://www.thepackagingstore.com/services.html
They did a good job, it was not a crate but a really heavy-wall cardboard box with foamed in place packing for $250. For a wood crate be prepared to pay a lot more but they will do it. You could have BAX pick it up right from that location though.

Looks like BAX Global is no more, they merged with some other company.
Not a problem on the pick up, I am able to drop it off.

Looks like BAX Global is no more, they merged with some other company. Shenker is a European company that BAX used to prtner with, I think they're Neederlanders? Usually buy outs result in higher prices and crappier service so hopefully that's not the case here?
Not a problem on the pick up, I am able to drop it off. believe it or not that wasn't possible either, more 9/11 fallout. All the BAX were based at airports and there's no way your driving past airplanes in your personal vehicle without a security pass. IT was pick-up from a commercial dock ONLY when I used them. I had to drag the PJ's to work for the few times I shipped to EU.

Do your own,or find a custom broker, never let these crooks do the clearance for you, just use them for transport only.
