I have eD a5-350.
I have a chance to get a SVS PC13-Ultra for a great price.
Primary use is Home theater.

Of the 2 which would be the keeper? Is it worth getting the SVS and selling the eD?

My room is 30x20x7

That's a hell of a deal you got with the PC13. Definitely get the PC13 and sell the eD. $500 for a PC13 is wayyyy too good of a deal to pass up.

PC13-Ultra no question and do it quick before the seller figures out he's an idiot, unless of course there is something wrong with it then maybe not so much of an idiot.

Ha!
It is mint...was not opened.
It was on craigslist..
I show up and this woman tells me she enters all sorts of online contests/giveaways. She said she won this...it was new in box. It was a strange scene....but it was real ;)

Did you get it? Have you checked the serial number with SVS? I haven't heard of these being counterfeited, but it could be stolen.

What do they call this?

Drive by bragging? ;)

If you think thats the case...call it whever you want.
I just wanted to know if it was much better than my existing eD sub or I wouldnt have bothered driving to get it and now having to deal with selling the eD.

Thanks for the quick replies to Jakeman02 and Chengbin.

Thanks for the quick replies to Jakeman02 and Chengbin. You're being overly sensitive. I was just trying to get you to make sure it wasn't stolen. You don't hear about $1500 subs being given away. Receiving stolen goods is a crime, even if you didn't know it was stolen.

Yea, I'd get rid of all evidence as well....can never be too careful.;)

Ok Cyberpartrol ;)

Sent from Ecoustics.com to the womans name and address. (Per the ups shipping label on the box).

So she really did win it.

I called svs as well and talked to them about it...I still have warranty.

The Ultra is a great sub and should be a noticeable upgrade from your A5-350. That is a fantastic price and a very good find. IMO it would be worth any hassles on driving/selling your existing sub.

Nice, Thanks.

Again, WTF? Why insinuate I have stolen goods and I did something wrong? Can you look at the threads topic and say "Yes its a better sub or no its not". Besides that what is the point of your reply? Go post this usefully tidbit anytime you hear of a good deal...thats a clever idea.I was just trying to make the point that not all goods sold on Craig's List are legitimate and you could easily check it out by verifying the serial number with SVS. I didn't insinuate you were doing something wrong, but that the seller might not be on the up-and-up. It was meant as a helpful suggestion. Since you want to get all huffy about it, then just ignore my suggestion.

Its cool.
I would be upset if it was "hot" too.

Now I will pass a deal off on my a5-350 to someone ;)

If it says 550 on tha amp, is the a5 an A5-550?

No that is the amp. It is a lt-550 amp but the sub is the a5-350.

Like I said I wanted to know if the hastle was worth the upgrade.

Financially yes, the rest only you can decide.

Not a thread of a bunch of people insinuating I have stolen goods because i got a great deal.

Nobodies insinuated anything and advice has been given to you so you'll be able to find out this information for yourself.

You got a great deal, one of those that fall into the "If it's too good to be true" category. There have been no reports or anyone here that I know of that has heard about an online contests/giveaway in which a SVS sub was being auctioned off for free. I'd be researching it also if it were me and I would have applauded the advice give to me here.

Some of the above post might have a condescending attitude but that's life and will happen anywhere you go online or off. For the most part we've tried to be very helpful in deducting the value of the offer and giving you the information to make sure it's on the up and up.

You are right.
Thanks for the help guys...I got it, it was real, it was from ecoustics.com (like I said earlier) shipped to the person I got it from (on the ups label). That seems legit to me.

Right off the bat it works better in my room then the eD. :)

Case closed!!! (I HOPE!!)

Awesome! If you get a chance, try to give us a nice writeup comparing the two. I'm sure many people would be interested in the differences between the Ultra and A5-350. We all assume the Ultra is superior, but an actual comparison by someone who has owned them both would be very informative and helpful :) Congrats on the new sub.

I sure will...I might try to compare them in real time. I need to get an a/b switch.

When Craigsub did his sub comparison he gave the Ultra 109 points and the ED550 96 points for both Home Theather (movies) and Sound Quality (music). If you ask me, that's a big difference in performance.
