Mainly the big guns that can get final say, and often it has to do with the final transfer and encodes. David Fincher Francis Ford Coppala George Lucas Steven Speilberg Michael Bay Ridley Scott Peter Jackson James Cameron And that's the group I know off the top of my head... fitprod SirDrexl 05-25-09, 07:38 PM I think Paul Thomas Anderson is another. He was not happy about the original DVD transfer for Boogie Nights, and had another done a couple years later. There are also instances where the transfer is approved by the cinematographer. Vittorio Storaro has approved some, and enforced his preferred 2:1 aspect ratio. There's controversy over Halloween, which had its DP Dean Cundey approve a transfer years ago that looks different from the more recent versions. Cundey's transfer had a bluish tint in some of the nighttime scenes, for instance, and more recent versions are more "natural" looking. Faceless Rebel 05-25-09, 11:18 PM Many directors are directly involved with the home versions of movies releases. At a minimum many directors provide commentary tracks, but some also are involved with the video and audio transfer processes, including personally supervising and approving masters and sound mixes. Criterion releases are always supervised and approved by the director before production begins. I mean, you know, if the director is alive, since Criterion issues a lot of old movies after the principals involved in the film's production are long dead. jvillain 05-26-09, 03:04 AM Unfortunately you can add William Friedkin to the list. dvdmike007 05-26-09, 03:12 AM Is it better they are involved ?
