Hey folks,

I figured I'd try the experts directly in parrallel to searching and reading. I've inserted the details of my room (living room, don't have a home theather). Not an ideal room, I know, but it's what I've got.

My budget is $500. My mix of use would probably be 70/30 HT&TV to Music.

My speakers are Polk RM8s all around with RM8 Center.

Thoughts? From just some quick thread reading, seems like the SVS-PB10 is well respected in this price range.

Additionally, I'm looking for placement suggestions. I was thinking to the right (when sitting) of the couch

Thanks!

Thanks jaejw1. Not sure I have much options on the furniture placement. Wife won't be into that :(. I wasn't clear about which placement options I was looking for. Specifically, I'm looking for ideas on where to place the sub.

Thanks!

Hi Red.

As far as sub placement, nothing beats experimenting.

Your gonna want the sub close to the front L/R speakers, the Polks don't go very low so your gonna need to set the crossover very high, which will cause localization. By putting it inbetween the fronts will help some. Ideally you don't want to beable to tell where the bass is coming from and that with a 80hrz crossover. With you Polks your gonna what at least a 120hrz maybe higher. They only go to about 130hrz so your gonna have a freq hole.

for 500 you can have dual premier acoustic pa120's like myself.. and it will fill y6our room very nicely.. or dual acoustic audio hd-sub12

I agree, you would get better room filling bass that way.
