Hi everyone
I have a Sony SR-11 HD camcorder and just bought the Sony VRD-MC5 in hopes of recording the videos in my SR-11.
Is it possible for me to use the MC5 to record the AVCHD to standard DVD? I dont currently have a Blue Ray player.
Thanks in advance!

If the videos you shot are in HD, You can plug the A/V composite or S-Video cable to it so that it downconverts the HD video to SD to burn on a DVD.
I'm not familiar with your SR-11 camcorder but the MC5 is supposed to do just what you want(from compatible Sony camcorders). That is it will take the HD(recorded in AVCHD on your camcorder) and burn that to a standard DVD.
Note that DVD will only play in select BR players and I would think?? the MC5 itself. That brings up a interesting point, if the MC5 plays AVCHD discs would it also play BR discs? I doubt it but it's a interesting thought.

According to the manual, In order to record HD videos in SD, You have to plug the Composite Yellow, Red, and White cables or the S-Video cable in order to downcovert HD to SD quality.

I agree with you Tigerclaw for just recording SD to standard DVD, what I thought the OP was trying to do was record HD in the AVCHD format to standard DVD. If the OP is indeed trying to record SD to a standard DVD then you are correct, using the S-video or composite outputs should accomplish this.
