Is there anything else in this price range I should consider? ($250)

What are the advantages of the 15 over the 12?

Why do you keep asking the same question in another thread? If you already made up your mind about the HD-Sub15, it's obvious that nobody will convince otherwise so please don't make up another thread about this. You already know people will suggest you to spend more to get a more quality sub. If you have a limited budget, then make your choice wise.

Most people suggested spending more, which I decided not to do. Now that I have settled on a $250 budget, I wanted to see if there was anything else out there for that price. Also, because I posted the poll, I wasn't getting any other suggestions. I was hoping that by not doing a poll, it would be more of a discussion. I enjoy discussing this stuff, that's all.

So sorry to have wasted your valuable time.

Not familiar at all with the Acoustic Audio.

The standard suggestion around here in that price range is the PA-120 for $230 on eBay. Lots of people very happy with that one.

I recommend the pa-120. I looked at the pics of the AA sub over on blu-ray. It concerns me that the amp was all taped over on the photos of the internals. I know some cheap electronic stuff used to be sold on ebay that had the electronics all taped up like that.

I would stay away from that, but that is only my opinion.

from what I understand... theres very few good quality budget subs out there

I was in the same boat as urself... I thought I could set me limit high to get the best I could afford... and then I came across the PA-120 and the HD-SUB12...

I read every page of both.. and made my finaldecision based on looks and internal construction...

since it was a budget sub I wasnt expecting a great performance from it,,just something that would satisfy my needs...
well the PA-120 really surprised me... and to smooth out the bass response I bought another one... now I have pretty muchclose to great performance.....

if I could go back,,, would I get something better,, probably not.. I dont think the extra 300-500 bux is worth the extra low extension and the stronger middle-bass punch..... I have enough already and my neighbors are fine with it just as long as I dont play it loud after 10pm,,, which I never do....

The limited feeback I could find on the AA HD-SUB15 wasn't all that great. Personally I'd go for one of the tried and true $200ish choices if you can't increase the budget, Bic H-100 or PA-120.

The advantage of a 15 over a 12 given everything else is equal (which they never are) is the 15 can more the same amount of air with less excursion. That again is given everything else is equal, there is a lot more that goes into a quality sub than a larger driver.
