I recently got the Pro 111FD Elite and had a few questions about picture settings.

First - a profession calibration obviously makes your picture better but can you accidently reset the calibration with a "reset" command from the menu? Or are these professional changes done in an area that the user has no access to, and effects all picture modes? Basically on an elite, im not going to pay someone to come in and move my bars up and down - something I could do myself? Id like something done behind the scenes to improve quality, not something I can simply reset.

Second - I see a lot of people dont use "Optimum" as their picture setting using the sensor bar. Most choose to go with pure and a warmer picture. Is there any particular reason for doing this? I find pure to be really dull just like movie mode, but with even more of a yellow hue to the whites on the screen. I found optimum to be by far the best picture the TV can produce.

Thank you for the help!

This TV is the best I have ever seen!

The Pioneer Elite/Sig models can be calibrated using the normal user menus. so in that regard yes you could go in and mess them up or change them if you wanted to.

But to get the very best calibration from your new pro111 you need to use a good calibrator that uses ControCal and sets your Pro111 up with the ISFccc functions.

If you talk to a calibrator that does not use ControlCal and sets up the ISFccc functions then IMHO i would look for one that does.

When the tech sets up the ISFccc functions they are locked and you would need ControlCal to go back in and unlock them if you wanted to change them. you still have the regular modes to use if you prefer them.

It's your set and your eyes so use whichever mode you like best.

Pure mode is the closest to 6500K and standard references as the set gets with out of the box settings. But even Pure mode can be improved by a good calibration. And again use whatever you like best and communicate that to the calibrator you hire. That is also another advantage to the ISFccc choices. You can have your tech set them up for different viewing/light conditions like ISF Day, ISF Night and whatever you like.

Would that lock out all of my menu options for picture? like if I wanted to go change the brightness, would I be able to? Is the ControlCal making changes that effect the overall picture and not basic settings that are already user controlled? Also, there is a "reset" picture setting in the menu, that will change any manipulation back to default. Would a professionals changes be different in that it wouldnt reset, but rather, reset back to whatever the professional set as default values? I hope I am explaining it right.

Thank you for the help :)
