For example, you might consider a good deal on a Velodyne DD-18 or DD-15 in a similar shaded veneer as your speakers. The DD's have remote and an excellent built-in parametric eq. Another alternative is a something such as the Velodyne SMS-1 sub controller with remote along with an excellent sub such as the SVS PB13 Ultra. The PB13 is available in a variety of veneers. Your cost would be half of the Aeriel and I'd bet on superior performance. spyboy 05-26-09, 05:46 PM I am curious if the sw 12 is worth the money, I have aerial fronts and would like to match them cosmeticly, I would like opinions please or alternatives, I do want a sub with a remote, thanks Only you can judge if the SW12 is worth the money. Have you read this review and compared it to others? http://www.avtalk.co.uk/showthread.php?t=19275 If I am not mistaken, some people swear by Aerial, and some people are satisfied to use a subwoofer from another company. You haven't told us about your listening habits or the size of your listening room. If you regularly listen at Reference Level, you might do a little better with something else. I guess there is no way that you could live with a black box. If that were the case, the Seaton Submersive is the hot ticket. Eventually it is going to be available in wood veneers but that could take quite a while. Combined with an SMS-1 you would have your remote control and a real monster of a sub with a Submersive. I also like mike's ideas. |
