Maybe you guys can set me straight here. I am finally pulling the trigger on a projector and was looking at the JVC-RS20 or the Infocus IN83 but due to up and coming projectors, I have decided to buy a less expensive X10 pending on room requirements due to crappy lens offset. I'll upgrade later in the year after the new models are brought out.
My room measurements are 18' from projector wall to screen wall and height is no problem (cathedral ceilings). I can possibly squeeze another foot of projector throw if I flush mount to projector into the wall. What type of screen size could I expect from these measurements and would this X10 be bright enough? I have a light-controlled room so ambient light is not a factor. I am also considering a Panamorph or some similar type of lens. With or without the lens, what size of screen would I be looking at?? Any help and comments are greatly appreciated.

The X10 should be plenty bright for about any room with any sort of light control. It's quite bright. At 18' it would throw between 112-134". A high ceiling should negate much of the need to play tricks with the offset, though if you have a fixed screen tilting it slightly can greatly reduce the offset needed.
I would go into the CIH forum and ask about which lenses work with the X10/IN8x series. Some on here have had to trim the casing to get certain models to work.
I upgraded from the Infocus IN76 and have been very pleased with the X10. It's an excellent value. Check out the X10 owners thread for more information and feedback.

From 16' about 120" max on a 16:9 screen.
From 18' about 130" max.
I appreciate the responses. The projector will be hung or shelf mounted. Will the Panamorph give a little larger screen size? Somewhere I read it was 1/3 larger?
x10 is 17" depth, so the throw if the screen is flush with the opposing wall would be 16' 7", and the 16:9 image would be 123" diagonal max. If you recess the projector in the wall and get a full 18', the 16:9 image would be 134" diag. max. Yes, a horizontal expansion anamorphic lens will provide a 4/3 increase in screen width at the same screen height, so the max 2.37 screen sizes would be: 154" and 170" for 16'7" and 18' throws respectively. good luck!
