I have an onkyo s606 with one sub out. I was talking to my friend who's running two BIC-1000 (I think) subs off one out with a Y cable running to both subs. He insists there are no negatives to this, but i'm not so sure.
I have an old sub from my HTIB sitting here because I replaced it with my BIC. However, if I can toss alittle extra bass from it by getting a Y with no negatives, then why not. Maybe in the future i'd pick up another dedicated sub too. Any input?
Thanks!

Thanks!Using a Y is not detrimental at all.
But using an inferior sub with a more competent sub is probably not such a good idea.

Because the sound would be uneven? Or because of actual specification issues that could lead to problems?

Because the sound would be uneven? Or because of actual specification issues that could lead to problems? You can do a search regarding using 2 subs of disparate capabilities. There is considerable info regarding this here in the sub forum. Differences in the sound quality aside, if you plan to EQ and spend time optimizing, you can make it work. But if you just plan to simply throw another sub into the mix, I would stick with the one, more capable sub.
I'll give you an (granted, poor) analogy. Suppose you had one really fit and capable horse pulling your cart. But you also had a much weaker horse. If you added the wimpy horse to your yolk would there really be benefit? Or would it possibly cause more issues than it would be worth?
