Why do I see most people using DRE off? I think it makes the overall image look fantastic with it on "mid". Really brings out the shadows etc. I calibrated last night with DVE BluRay disc and was able to get most colors spot on (according to my eyes anyways). I noticed the colors do get slightly darker when I have dre on, but they still seemed to disappear into the background when calibrating.

What is the disadvantage of keeping DRE off? Personally I think the picture is average at best with it off... The blacks dont pop out at all.

What exactly is DRE? I can't exactly google it...

Generally most HDTVs look best with almost all of the enhancements off.

I agree having DRE disabled doesnt look as nice. I prefer having DRE set on Low, it adds a bit of pop without overdoing it.

I have mine set to low as well. Everything looks way to soft and not very detailed IMO when I have it off on my 5010.

[Speaking only about 9G panels]

Because it can introduce visible artifacts if the black level isn't right. Some people report gamma problems as well. I've not seen that.

Where's the Kuro FAQ?
