I have a Loewe Aconda HDTV and have been unable to get HD out of my XBox 360 and PS3. I tried the component cables from the 360 ans PS3 and then tried a component to VGA converter and it still didn't work. I even tried the 360 VGA HD cables and no luck. I was told I need some kind of processing unit so the TV can display the HD signal. What do I need? I bet HD would look killer on this TV!

Didn't realise the US Acondas were different to the European ones.
i don't understand. in the menu there is an option to setup HD RGB 1080i or HD RGB 480p through VGA. how can I get my 360/ps3 to display in 1080i on this set? or does it just upscale an SD signal to pseudo HD?

Make sure to set your 360 to 1080i in the 360's dashboard. Also, 360's component cable has a switch between HD and SD, so make sure that the cable is set to HDTV mode.

From the Loewe Aconda manual:
On-Screen Connections
The Connections menu provides step-by-step animated in-
structions to hook up your Loewe television. Even if you physi-
cally connect your AV equipment without using the menu
system, you must go through the steps on-screen so the tele-
vision will recognize the device and make it available when
you press the input button. When all steps are completed,
your TV will automatically:
•Optimize the picture for the installed component.
•Add the component to the list of available inputs.
I Press menu to bring up the on-screen menu system.
2 Select “TV Set-Up” and press OK.
3 Select “Connections” and press OK.
4 Highlight one of the following components and press OK.
• Antenna/Cable • DVD C-Video 480i
. Cable Box • DVD C-Video 480p
• VCR • STB C-Video 480p
• VCR + Cable Box • STB C-Video 1080i
• Camcorder • VGA 48Op
• Laser Disc • HD RGB 1080i
• DVD Player, S-Video • HD RGB 480p
• Set-Top Box, S-Video • DVD Player 480p
• Satellite
5 You will be shown a series of steps to install the compo-
nent you selected. Press OK after you complete each step.
6 When you are finished, press exit to exit the menu system
or menu to install another component.
what about the transcoder? don't I need that for the connection to work? I am still getting the green lines across the screen instead of a clear HD picture.
You shouldn't need a transcoder. Just set to video outputs to component (YPbPr). "RGB" is a different animal.
are you guys sure we're talking about the same tv here? the only way to setup 1080i in the video setup menu is to use the vga cable. there is no option to set it to component cables.
Yeah... the TV has one "component" input (red, green and blue RCA connectors).
This should work for 1080i input from a PS3 or Xbox, if the devices are connected properly and the output of the consoles are set to output 1080i.

i've tried that. i still get the wavy green lines. in the tv setup menu the component input on the back of the tv is not for HD, only the VGA input. and i still didn't get an hd signal when using the VGA input.
you mean you guys have been able to get hd from your setup simply through plug and play? what's this transcoder i've read about? seems like it is required since i haven't been able to get an hd signal through component cables or a vga cable and i've even tried following the on-screen instructions in the tv setup menu.
what's this transcoder i've read about?

my buddy said that my tv is probably a very early model and needs a transcoder whereas the later models didn't need one. kind of an early adopter issue.
