The choice for me is either the Polk M-30 or the Energy C-100's for my main speakers in a 5.1 system (other components listed below), both of which are similar prices with the polks being slightly cheaper (great deals at newegg for polk and vanns for energy).

I already own these as part of my 5.1 system

-Marantz sr6001 receiver
-h100 bic acoustech subwoofer (awesome :))
-JBL northridge surrounds

For the center channel, i will match either the c-100 with the energy set or the polk cs1 with the polk set.

My room is a moderate size, nothing too big but i would like to have the flexibility to fill a decent sized room as i will be moving in a couple years for work after graduate school is complete.

I am leaning towards the polk a bit due to the better price. However, i want whichever is the higher quality speaker regardless of the small price difference.

Thanks and if i left anything out let me know please. I am just looking for which speaker set is better quality and will give a better sound in my specific setup.

I've heard both, get the Energy.

Thanks man. Im going to do some looking around instead of immediately going with the ones from vans because i would like to get a nice wood finish for my apt instead of black.

Still open for suggestions from others though :)

What's your budget?
If you're looking for speakers with a nice wood finish check out "a v 1 2 3.com" (take out the spaces).

The ELT 525 monitor is $175 pair in cherry.

GREAT advice, i was able to snag what i believe was a great deal at the av site.

Got two el525 moniters in cherry (B stock, small scratces on top which i will remove) and a brand new el525 center channel in cherry for 300 shipped.

Thanks again man, and i hope its a good match with my receiver since the speakers are only rated at 83dbs

Marantz 6001 should be able to handle it fine. Good luck.

I got a set of ELT525 monitors and matching center recently as well as a set of Aperion 5bs and the 5c center. They both sound pretty darn good but I prefer the 525s. To me the 525s sound fuller and more clear in the mids. I also had a set of PSB Imagine B15's that had a slight edge in sound to the 525's but the fit and finish on the 525's is far superior to the PSB's that I would still choose the 525's. For the money you spent you can not go wrong. Congratulations.

Nice. Congratulations on the purchase! I got B-stock ELT525 monitors from them but I couldn't really figure out why they were B-stocks. Post pics and thoughts (good or bad) when you get them!

not able to post pics atm, but i can give a review of the experience

FIRST of all, customer service was awesome. And i mean awesome. I called, they were very helpful, gave me a monster discount, and sent a confirmation email immediately and sent the items out that day via ups as promised.

The item took 3 business days to get here which is exactly what the rep told me would happen. The speakers look unbelieveable. The speakers basically look brand new and match perfectly with the center.

The speakers sound incredible, perfectly matched and so crisp and clean, they are the best i have ever heard without a doubt. Now admittedly, i have not heard some of the super high end speakers that some have, but i have heard many very high priced systems. They are a perfect match for my brand new marantz sr6001 which i bought to match with these speakers. BTW, that is a great deal from accessories4less for the sr6001 for 600 dollars (yes 600 dollars) less than the next closest price.

The low sensitivity rating (83db) is not a factor at all, and i couldnt tell if i didnt read it off the spec sheet. The speakers play with perfect clarity at earshattering levels. They sound flawless at almost maximum volume on the marantz, (which is so loud that you could hear it from a mile away).

Overall, flawless. Could not recommend any of these components any higher. 300 dollars for the 3 piece set and 350 for my marantz reciever = by far the best sound ive ever heard when matched with my sub. Simply incredible

HIGHLY recommend the el525 line AND av123. They are the best deal out there imo along with accessories4less for their receiver deals
