I'm curious, Is the VRD-MC5 compatible with all the latest Sony Handycams for 2009? Be it Hard Drive or Memory Stick ones?

The SonyStyle site list Handycams that are compatible with it, But those Handycams are no longer be available.

I want to know if this thing is future proof because I bought it yesterday and it works with my Panasonic MiniDV Cam with the firewire cable

No response?

I bought this a couple of days ago, Though it works great with my Panasonic MiniDV Cam via the firewire cable, I want to know if all of the newest Sony Handycams are compatible with it?

You might try posting your question in the AVS Camcorder forum, we occasionally get questions about the MC5(in the DVD recorders forum) but rarely any answers:(
Last I looked their wasn't really a master thread anywhere on AVS for the MC5.

Good idea, it's nice to have a sort of master thread instead of many individual threads asking just one question. I see you also posted in the camcorders thread, it will be interesting to see if you get any answers.
If I had a digital Sony camcorder(I have a older Hi8 Sony) I'd probably really be interested in the MC5. I always though it was odd we don't get much posted on it on AVS:confused:

The thing is, the VRD-MC5 is said to be compatible with Sony Handycams that support AVCHD, However the SonyStyle site only has a listing for Handycams that are no longer on Sale, And they haven't updated any info if its compatible with the current list of camcorders.

I did look at one of the latest Hard Drive based ones and its compatible with a new DVD Recorder for it, But no mention of the VRD-MC5.
