Hi i did post in an earlier thread about using my PS3 for both and have decided to bring my Denon DVD-2200 Universal Player out of retirement and have hooked it up to my Denon AVR-2808 using the EXT in inputs on the RCVR .I have gone into the setup for the 2200 and measured the distance for the speakers and used my sound pressure level meter for the lvl's.I have the RCVR setup in 7.1.Is their anything else i should do or is this a reasonable sort of a setup ?It sounds pretty damm good to me.Any advice is always greatly received.

Not Sony's thing.

Have you added the 10db boost to the sub channel in your receiver?
Of course, SACD and DVD-A are limited to 5.1, not 7.1. And, I suspect your 2200 won't apply distance adjustments for SACD. I have a 2900, which does bass management for both formats but only does distance for DVD-Audio.

...............anything else i should do..............What is your receiver? Does it bass manage its external inputs?
If you normally run any of your speakers as SMALL (or apply a crossover to any of them), you probably want to set those speakers to SMALL in the 2200, too. The 2200 has a fixed 80Hz crossover for all channels set to SMALL, btw.
Have you added the 10db boost to the sub channel in your receiver?+15dB if you are running the speakers as SMALL in the 2200 and are not bass managing the receiver's external inputs.

Hi all yes speakers are set to small.I have not changed any settings in the rcvr just ran the audssey setup in 8 different positions in my lounge .Audyssey won't calibrate the external inputs' speaker levels. You'll need to do this with either the player's speaker level trims or the external inputs' level trims. One or the other. Preferably not both. It is easiest to use your receiver's external input level trims (provided it allows you to adjust these) as you can do it on-the-fly without having to go into either devices' OSD.
