Greetings,
Do you know if a Plasma TV can be safely shipped via air cargo? I am concerned that at 30,000+ feet it is the equivalent of being around 8000 feet even in a pressurized cabin/cargo hold. Assuming it is packed very well, are there pressure issues to think about that might damage the TV?
Thanks.
Chris

Plasmas get shipped by air allthe time so I would not worry about. I would rather have it on a truck because of less chance of damage.

Thanks Roman,
I had read that Panasonic had recently shipped a 150" plasma for an electronics show by plane. I just want to make sure that my new 42" Kuro and 50 Pana are going to make it there.

I've been debating this myself. I'm probably relocating (long distance) in the near future, and I'm definitely taking my newly-calibrated Kuro with me.
Being my paranoid self, however, I'd prefer to transport via SUV where I can keep my own two eyes on it.

It's operating them at very high altitudes that can be a problem, not just shipping them. Unless someone plans to turn the set on while in transit, you have nothing to worry about.

42" Kuro?

Yes, 42" Kuro. Heading overseas. Faster by plane if I can afford it. :)
Thanks for all of the reassurance. Sounds like we need to have some professionals pack the heck out of it so it survives the flight.

Check to see if there is any shipping insurance available.
