My display is freaking me out. All of a sudden the went picture crazy, will not respont with remote in a timely manner, and cuts itself off and on. Samsung will not fix due to it being out of waranty. Hoping if I can identify the problem through the fourum. It sucks to have spent $2300 on a what I thought was a nice unit to have it give out four years later. Help on this would be greatly appreciated.

That is normally the result of your dmd board going out, check the link for people who have replaced it themselves:

anyone? Is there a reputable repair service in the Chicagoland area that anyone knows of?

I would agree with mes444 that it sounds/looks like a DMD board problem.

(Although the thread he linked is actually more concerned with replacing the DMD panel (DLP chip), and is mostly related to the HLS models.)

thats a digital pcb problem.
it would help to have the complete model and vers # located on the sticker on the right side of the unit in order for me to give you a specific part #.

EliteData,
The complete model number is HLR5667WAX/XAA. There was no vers# on the sticker.

Thanks in advance

What do you want us to say. The dmd board needs to be replaced. If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself, contact Samsung CS for an authorized repair shop in your area.

Thru a repair place, it's probably not worth fixing. If you can do it yourself, it is worth fixing. Check the link and the people there can offer lots of help on the repair.
